In the 1910s and '20s automobiles became increasingly popular in the United States, although prices remained out of reach for many. In response, in 1926 three young people formed the People's Loan and Finance Corporation to offer installment loans.〔(History )〕
On October 11, 2013, Peoples Bank, which is a subsidiary of Peoples Bancorp Inc. ("Peoples" Bancorp Inc.) acquired Ohio Commerce Bank ("Ohio Commerce") for US$16.5 million in cash.
